Whether your tax code is correct isn't something I can say.0 -
Thank you. Could you possibly tell me how I can find out what is the correct code for me?

Tax Year 2000/2001
Tax Code 438L
Gross Pay £7,901.00
Tax Paid £852.95.
I think Im owed £262.71.
Do you think I would be able to get a rebate for 2000/2001?

Short answer. No
The last year for PAYE tax refunds is currently the year ending 5 April 2006 and any ncliams for that year must be made before 31/01/2012.
As Mikeyorks posted in your other thread, this table provides the dates for which paye tax claims have to be made by.
Time limits for claiming back PAYE tax[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Tax free allowance (from tax code): 4,385.00
Taxable pay: 3,516.00
Amount at 10%: 1,520.00
Tax at 10%: 152.00
Amount at 20%: 1,996.00
Tax at 20%: 399.20
Total tax due: £551.20
[I've used figures for the 10% band from http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/stats/tax_structure/table-a2a.pdf]
So I make it that you've paid £301.75 too much!
I have no idea if you can claim from that far back, though.0 -

Do you know the latest news that they have made mistakes in the tax years going back to 2003-2004 aswell which they are now sorting out for people?
This was obviously years ago which would`ve also had a time limit but they are going to be dealing with it.
So I was wondering if it could be done for 2000/2001
JimmyTheWig.
Thank you very very much.

HMRC cannot go back any further than you or I can do. They are subject to the same time constraints as everyone else other than is cases of fraud in nwhich instances they can go back for an indefinate period if there is sufficient evidence to do so.
This means that despite the scaremongering that is ongoing, HMRC will not be going back to 2003/04.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.
