Caravan boiler

We have a boiler that's on its way out and will need replacing. The only quote we have so far was £1200!

Does that sound about right? Sounds pricey when a home boiler only costs £700/£800. Unless the cost is due to the needs of it being smaller?

Thanks guys.

  • What boiler is it?
    It that supply and install?
If it is search the model number on the net to find out just the cost of the boiler?
It cannot be more than £500ish max.
If it is a like for like swap with out pipe change, then i would say about £100 max to fit.
Do your research if you want to save money..............

what size caravan are we talking here?
i know static vans that use normal house type boilers. ie worcester 24cdi.

i also know of caravans and boats, that use dedicated boilers at about 1500 quid each.
    Get some gorm.

It depends if it is only a hot water boiler I would say about £350 supply and install. But if is a Micro Combi Boiler that does Rads and hot water it is going to cost you about £1,000

Not all static use normal house type boilers, if its only heating water there is no need. LPG water boilers are a lot smaller and a lot cheaper. Whats the make/model/age of the caravan is it a static because Micro Combi boilers are in newer models

  • Truma gas + electric water heaters are very common in caravans (given so few manufacturers make alternatives) and run about 350-450 new.

We have a touring caravan with an Alde Compact boiler, heats water and rads, they are expensive. About £1100 to buy possibly.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It's a small boiler that controls both hot water and rads in the van, so maybe the price is about right. The plumber quoting has done a couple of visits for free, been on the phone to the boiler company, and seems to have gone the extra mile to try and repair the existing unit.

I bought the static van for my sister, in case you're wondering why details are sketchy. It's a 2001 Pemberton Elite 35 x 12 x 12B, located in The Gower, Wales, if it makes any difference and if any Welsh plumbers want to kick-in any comments!
