I have an email address with o2, and I am getting a lot of emails with the "Delivery Status Notification", any idea on what they are and how to stop them?
Here is one of them:
- These recipients of your message have been processed by the mail server:
lena.st80@mail.ru; Failed; 5.3.0 (other or undefined mail system status)
Remote MTA mxs.mail.ru: network error
- SMTP protocol diagnostic: 550 spam message rejected. Please visit http://mail.ru/notspam/ or report details to abuse@corp.mail.ru. Error code: 9C7FE7CE190AEE03BC3F51E370E38D0858F3561733BD5CC17C36F496B550BED7FD1A7F947AA2273FA02573F51F396DE

I have added postmaster@mail.o2.co.uk to my block list, so that might stop them, but won't be much use if I actually do send emails that are rejected in the future.
Didn't work.0 -
Worth a malwarebytes scan imo.
It could just be someone trying to send spam through the O2 mail servers and using your email as sender but I suppose it could also be some malware on your machine doing it.
If the scan comes up clean contact O2 and see what they have to say. If it doesn't then there are some virus gurus read this board and they can advise.0 -
Spam is being sent in your email address.
You really should try and find out if either it is some malware actually sending it from your computer or not.
There is little you can do about it short of setting up some rules to either delete the mails or move them into another folder. You may find O2 prevent you auto deleting things from the postmaster. Of cause the downside of this is if you get a genuine bounce of something you send you won't know as the same rule will catch it and delete/ file it0 -
I don't think it is anything to do with my computer, as I only access the emails via the O2 website.
Plus it has been scanned for malware and is clear.
I have just setup a filter to send them straight to the trash folder.0 -
Are you replying to spam emails or do you really know people in Russia?"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

I haven't done anything, I just get bursts of these where I receive about 20 to anything upto 500 of these, I just delete them.0

Right,
well change your password immediately then. This may not solve the problem but it seems someone is using your email address to send out spam which is why your getting so many failed notices.
if that doesnt work then just change your email address"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
It seems like your email box is used for spam.
There are 2 things:
Somebody knows your email login/pass details and uses them remotely for mass spam.
Somebody knows only your email, he uses your details as "from" so as this address is blacklisted it bounces back to you.
First thing to do:
1. Scan for viruses ( software must be reliable like MSE, kaspersky, bitdefender)
2. Change password of emailbox to more complicated.
3. Contact O2 and ask them have your account been used for such purposes.
Anyways I would recommend changing email account also.0 -

Think it must be that one.0
