Tricky Breakup

Hi,

My wife and I have decided to have a trial sepration. We have just last year purchased our home and our daughter is very happy here. I will be moving back in.with my parents but will also spend nights back at the house sleeping on the sofa bed. I want to be able to put my daughter to sleep and sometimes the drive back to my mums is a little to much. My daughter will spend 2/3 nights sleeping at my mothers house as we have a spare room for her. I can still afford to pay the mortgage and some bills to help my wife (ex2be) but can she claim any benefits as a single mum if we both share our daughter? I also would like to place my daughter in a school next to my mums when she is old enough as my wife works lates and its easier if my mum picks her up from school. Does that mean I need to change my daughters home add for the school?

Who will have the child the most? That will be the parent with care and as such will get the child tax credits and child benefit.
You might need to change pwc come school time as the school will need their main care adress and if thats your wifes then they wont let her into the school near you

Have you actually spoken to your wife about your daughter changing schools? and have you been in touch with the school to see if they have a space? there can often be a waiting list.
Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.

    Hi,

My daughter has not started school yet she is only 18 months and born in January so she will not start till next September. The school closer to my mothers house is much better, her cousins go there so we both feel that the school is a good choice for her. We are going to share her as much as possible 50/50. When school starts she will be staying will come home at 3pm, my wife will then keep her till 7pm. Weekends she will stay with my wife. We are trying to do the best for her so she sees us as much as possible. I am not sure of the schools policy as I will be living literarily across the road from it. The fact that we share our daughter may mean she won't be accepted.

Parent With Care. It usually has to be just one of you, I'm not sure how they see things with joint custody. But I guess everything would have to be registered at just the one address, school, doctors, dentist. Schools can be a bit funny with people who use an address just to get their child into a certain school! Is there a nursery that feeds into the school? Might be an idea to get her in there before hand, she'll get free sessions the term after her 3rd birthday.
