my suspect fealing is that the installer tried using a 12v output cable from the illumination wire or the ignition wire, on the ISO harness, instead of using the remote/power airiel cable on the actual stereo ouputs.

My suspect feeling is that the 'professional' nature of the Halfords installer doesn't run to this.

They simply plugged it in to what they thought was the right ISO lead and it didn't work.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
  • Halfords advertise vacancies on their website, so you can see what they require from their fitters. I'll quote the lot:
    Job Purpose
To demonstrate that customers are your number one priority by delivering a quality and timely fitting service, right first time.
    • Demonstrate an awareness of performance in the auto department and the store
    • Strive to sell Car Care Services where appropriate
    • Offer additional advice, goods and services
    • Deliver all work in line with timescales agreed by customers
    • Approach and ask customers open questions to ensure their needs are met
    • Strives to exceed all targets
    • Ensure ‘front of house’ standards are maintained

    You should be/have;
    • Passionate about customer service
    • Confident and conscientious
    • Good communication and listening skills
    • Good planning and organising skills
    • Well presented personal appearance
    • Qualified or have the ability to achieve an in house qualification.
    • A team player and build good working relationships
You can see that sales and meeting targets take top priority over skills and experience. Personally, I'd rather have a rude and smelly mechanic who knows what they're doing :rotfl:

If the man fitting the stereo didn't know that then he shouldn't be fitting stereos. It was the blue wire on the power connector, pin 5.

As for asking if you could "do without" the antenna I think I'd have kicked him out of my car there and then. Idiot.
