Idorex/Acclaim/Staykill can be bought at Pets at Home and online from lots of the Pet Suppliers listed on this forum (probably cheaper than the verts too). Also, I've read (but don't know because I've never tried it), that Borax works very well - just sprinkle it onto your carpets. Just Google Borax and you'll be able to find suppliers as it's not sold over the counter in this country anymore (although there's no problems buying it in America!).
  • Whatever you do, do NOT give your pets garlic (as someone has stated they do). Garlic is deadly poison for dogs. Onions are bad for them too, but garlic is particularly bad. My dog had some garlic once and he got so ill he nearly died. Even if it weren't poisonous (which it is) feeding your pets garlic will do NOTHING to kill fleas.

Please, people! If you own a pet, educate yourself about what's good and bad for them! Here is a list of foods that are dangerous for dogs:

Precisely - be led by the vets who post on this forum - INDOREX/Acclaim plus the flea treatment of choice for the area you live

Do be careful what flea treatment you use on the actual dog - some Collies can have potentially fatal reactions to certain flea treatments due to a particular gene (MDR1). There's a test that can be done for this gene so could be worth looking into. It's mainly flea treatments that use Ivermectin but I have heard some other flea treatments be ruled out for Collies too, and not all vets are aware of this.
