10p bread - every day!

I always pay 10p - 50p for my bread, rolls etc and not a penny more.

Go to M&S about 6:15pm (they shut at 7pm) many things are cheap cheap cheap - lots of sandwiches and salads for 50p too. Full birthday cakes for £1 or so.

Be warned though -some of the other shoppers at this time are vicious ruthless bargain vultures!!

  • Funnily enough I was in M&S tonight when they were just reducing all the bread and cakes/bakery products.
I got about £11.50s worth of bread, croissants, iced buns and danish pastries for just over £2.
    My freezer is heaving now.
Had to freeze them or I'd have eaten them all :rotfl:.

  • Reminds me of when my local safeway did this years ago at close of store at 10pm some people would push and shove to get what they want even knicking food out of others trolleys

I have heard many of M&S staff grab these deals not sure if its true now but I know some people who bragged to me that worked there

M&S often have much better reductions and a much better range of products than ASDA and Tesco etc.

I once got a whole chicken there for about 70p.

I was in a large Tesco last night around 9.10pm; they were taking unsold bread off the shelves, lots and lots of it -- all the instore bakery bread plus several crates of branded bread. The reason for this wasn't obvious, so I asked if they were marking it down further or simply moving it?

The answer was neither - it's all going into the bin, he said. Most staff change shift at 10pm, he explained and said that anything left always has to be binned before they go. Pretty shocking really - so much waste, pity they don't just give it away (actually I know Asda sometimes do)!

Oh well, at least any freegans near that store should do well! ;)

It is shocking and its also wasteful

Sainsburys gives food away to homeless charity in my area at least someone benefits. A local cafe for poor also provide cheap all day breakfast used from food from sainsburys

That's an ace tip. There's no M&S near me though. In fact I got a rather sophisticted breadmaker for Fathers' day in June. The 2500WXC It's great, and I am sure the bread is gluten-free and healthier- but if you buy the best inredients to get the best taste, then it's not that cheap.

And really I guess it shouldn't be the way that you have to pay to get the healthy stuff. Probably not true of other products, but for wheat and the like, if you pay peanuts, err.. you get rubbish husks!
