iPod Video 30Gb - increase volume?

the 'clicker' volume wheel is on max, but its still fairly quiet, in the settings the master volume is locked at about 50%, but its asking for a 4-digit passcode to change it, where do I find this or can it be bypassed?

The four digit code is something the user sets and can't be directly bypassed once set. If you (or someone else) has set the code and forgotten it the iPod has to be reset to "factory fresh" from iTunes and then rebuilt from scratch (reload content and reset manually the settings etc). Doing a reset and restore from back up will take you back to square one.
