forced to stop work - new agency / temp rule?

I have been working in an in house temp agency so probably not strictly an agency. I am on a temp contract.. JUST been told that I need to stop working and come off their books for four weeks as I have been on there too long. After nine months I think a certain amount of benefits click in .. This is a way to stop this from happening. Obviously If I have this four week break they won't be forced to provide these extra benefits. For me this is mad as there is the work, they want me back etc.. Zero notice of course, so no pay in jan. Just what I need. Anyone else heard of this. I have also heard that this is being challenged in the courts at the moment but can't find the detail...

This is the new agency regulations that came in on the 1st October. I don't know if it helps.

In house temporary staffing banks are not covered by the regulations. This appears to be something to do with the employers own rules about when people qualify as permanant employees for benefits.0
