JSA appeals timescales

i've had to put in an appeal regarding the amount of JSA awarded (a premium is missing)

does anyone know timescales for appeals?

It tends to be a 'how long is a piece of string' question - a few weeks if they see their mistake, many months if it has to go to tribunal.

Have you told them that a premium is missing, which premium is it?

it is really straightforward one. i meet the criteria for severe disability premium but they havent awarded it. i have phoned them and told them but they say i am on the right rate, which is incorrect. i've filled out the appeal form today.

I'd call back and speak to someone else - ask for a supervisor callback if need be. You shouldn't have to go to the hassle of a complaint for this.

i tried that, they would not put me through to my local benefit decision centre so it is all going thorugh the central number. when i phoned them today for the 3rd time they said they've told me the decision and there's nothing more i can say to them! so it's the appeal form.

Is your MP any good? My old one would write for things like this, and get a reply within a week! It is frustrating when something so simple becomes so difficult.
