SLR 35mm Minolta x-700 would the len work/fit on modern digital SLRs

I have a 28-70mm zoom lens that fits my Minolta x700 35mm SLR camera.

I am going to sell the 35mm SLR camera with a 50m lens but I want to keep the 28mm-70mm zoom lens for my future digital SLR camera.

Woud the lens fit the digital SLR camera????

Not 100% certain but I think Canon are the only ones where lenses from their old 35mm cameras use the same mount. But then the 70-210 works out different when attached to a digital SLR.

Lenses from the x700 should, although Minolta (photo) was flogged to Sony last year. May be some 2nd hand Minolta branded SLR bodies about (5D I think), but pretty sure the Sony SLRs (already one or two out I think) continue the Minolta fitting (pity they didn't do the same when they bought Zeiss!!).

ps - as DJohn mentioned, likely that film SLR lenses won;t be the same focal length on digital (apart from the higher-priced Canon and Nikon).
