yet another DLA query!

Hi all

I started a claim for DLA for my son back in August and had a letter last week telling me that my claim was still under review and they'd be in touch with me in due course.

I know there was a previous thread about this, but cannot find it anywhere! :o

My query really is that obviously they haven't rejected the claim outright, but how long now is it likely I'll have to wait?

The letter came through at around the 8 weeks mark, so do any of you know what their current backlog and timescale are?

TIA

BlueSD

It's probable that they have sent for reports from various people.
Phoning them up every couple of weeks is probably a good plan, if only from the possibility of the denial letter getting lost in the post, and your appeal timing out due to you not knowing.

Oh, thanks for that F_S. We hit 10 weeks tomorrow, so fingers crossed we'll hear something soon....
  • My claim is in its 2nd week and i have had a letter today asking a couple of questions and advising me that they were contacting my consultant so i'm taking that as a good sign as i have been turned down in the past without them even contacting my doctors.

Got a refusal in about 10 days, based on them seemingly not reading the form at all, just my ESA medical.

Sent a response asking for reconsideration - which got to them - recorded post.
A couple of months later, they phoned me saying 'we seem to have a record of a letter, but we lost it', and asking if it was an appeal.
I said it was, and send another copy.
They write to the doctor, who sits on the letter for a month, then writes a mostly unhelpful report.
Reconsideration turned down after another 2 weeks, so confirmed in writing I wanted to proceed with appeal.
Another couple of months, and a pack turned up as a copy of their submission to the tribunal.
Tribunal is listed for 22 Nov.
Closing on a year since the 10th of January that I applied.
  • we were turned down in March for my daughters renewal in May due to (i think) unhelpful Dr and school report, still waiting for a hearing.
We have had to apply direct for a BB that took ages and now we have a wheelchair the money seems unimportant but i am sure we qualify so am hanging on.
