HP Touchpad - US Version?

Hi

I missed out on the great deal on them boo hoo!! ;) :rotfl:

All I really wanted it for was to be able to easily browse the net on a decent size screen, although I am I right in thinking that I wouldn't be able to download things onto it as it's not windows?

Can anyone tell me if it would it make any difference if I bought one of the US models? As in would it be compatible work fine over here etc.??

TIA

You won't be able to download WINDOWS things onto it because it's not Windows. What are you planning to put on it? Music, Word/Excel documents, pictures, videos, PDF etc is fine. Winzip is not.
No such thing as a US model, they're all the same - just the power adaptor will be different, but I don't think it's worth the hassle. All I've heard is that the same shortage was caused there as here, so why risk the customs hassle etc? If you want one (and you've done your research, which I don't think you have) then I think that eBay or Gumtree is you best bet.

Thanks for your reply almillar! :)

I have "sort of" done my research!! If I can get one at a reasonable cost my intention would be to mainly use if for net browsing ie. facebook, ebay youtube etc. and possibly adding music onto it too. I don't totally understand webos but gather that I would be able to do these things. Some of the things I don't understand are if it would be ok/safe to buy stuff online as I know you wouldn't be using anti virus etc.

If anyone would like to give me a better understanding of it's uses / capabilities - feel free please!

I couldn't possible justify buying an ipad at their prices but though if I could get a touchpad at £150 ish (hopefully!! ;)) it we would be a nice addition to my gadgets! :p

Anti-virus is for finding and removing viruses. There are (right now) no viruses for webOS. No anti-virus required. I'd tell my bank to take a run and jump if they tried to accuse me of anything like that. I'd take precautions though, like only doing banking at home or on a trusted WiFi network, not coffee shops etc. Some banks only support certain browsers though - IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera aren't available for it.
Everything you mention works great on the Touchpad.
Good deal if you get one for £150, doubt you'll get any employee vouchers!

Sorry for delay I meant to reply sooner!

Yes I managed to get a used as new one off ebay uk for £150 inc P&P I got a generic case and screen protectors etc. too also £5 odd cashback so I think I did ok!

I'm really pleased with it so far does all the things I wanted it to do nice little gadget. I can see my netbook now being semi redundant was considering selling that but am keeping it in case my ageing desktop dies as I couldn't use the touchpad as a temporary replacement.

    Have you got one DCFC79?
