ESA Envelope

Dear All,

I have just completed the dreaded ESA50 to renew my claim for ESA. However, now that I've included all the medical reports and continuation sheets, I haven't any hope of folding the form so that it fits into the provided pre-paid A5 envelope.

Do you know whether I can sellotape the front of their A5 envelope onto the larger A4 envelope that I require, or will it not then get there?

Many thanks in advance.

Make sure and check the postage,if you are including a lot of paperwork be sure to weigh it to ensure correct postage and take no chances.

The freepost label is irrelevant, you want to send it registered at the very least.
The DWP loses a certain fraction of incoming post after it is received by them.
The Royal mail also loses some post.

Photocopy it all, or send photocopies, and send them by some trackable means.
  • As rogerblack has already said pay the little extra money and send it registered, it may prove later to be the best money you ever wasted :D

Also make sure every additional page is numbered (for example 1 out of 10) so if any go missing, it can be seen.
Ensure each additional page, has your name, dob and NI number on it so it cant get mixed up with anyone elses, and if misplaced, can be associated back to you.
I would also include a note on the form, listing exactly what evidence was also supplied, so if any is 'lost' they will know about it.

  • I needed to use a different envelope so I called local job centre who said I could hand deliver it to them and they will put it in internal post.

Which has no tracking, and as I understand it, policy is not to issue receipts, so proving you handed it in will be tricky.
