Hi everyone...
Lookig for a bit of advice...
Afriend has been offered a 0 hr contact with a retailer which is fine as really wants to work. I know they can still claim JSA as long as under 16 hrs and they will only be earning NMW so not like £100p/h. They were advised at the interview may start with 4hr and as X-Mas gets closer hours will get increased.
Just wanted to know will they still need to sign on every 2 weeks and I know they will want payslips and is it ok to give when they are given out? Also...if they need to sign on can the days and times be rearragne according to what they are working? They don't want to mess the employer about choping and changing hours with them as they is a chance there could be a full time contract in January and since been made redundant in 2009 as not been able to find a permanent job..so fingers crossed!!! They are hoping the more hours are ASAP!!!
Thanks in advance.

When your friend signs on tell them to bring the latest payslip with them. JSA is paid in arrears so the payslip provided will alter the next payment that they approve. I highly recommend you don't change the signing on date or times. It'll get them confused and you might find that no payment will be approved. People within a certain range of National Insurance number always sign on the same day every week.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

if any working hours clash with signing on date/ time, the procedure can differ from jc to jc. Generally, if you telephone the jc beforehand informing that you are a p/t worker and clashes with signing on time, generally they will re-arrange a new signing time the same day, some cases even the following day, with no problems what so ever. If you miss the signing day/time and not inform the jc, you have 5 working days to contact them before your claim closes, then you will have to attend a dma interview for non attendance, which the decision will be fine/allowed, i.e. not affecting benefit apart from being a few days later in recieving payment. At 16 hours it is classed as full time employment, 15 hrs, 59 mins is still classed as part time. Latest wage slips with completed B7 form need to be handed in every 2 weeks, and of course, the amount of jsa paid depends upon earnings and date paid. There are disregards of £5 single, £10 couple, and then there are special occupation disregards. If you work slightly over the 16hours over xmas time, dont worry , they average the hours over a 4/5 week period, so as long as the average is lower than 16, there is no need to sign off.0
