Not really sure whats allowed now with the stricter controls. However i usually take things like packets of savoury rice, super noodles, cous cous etc. Packets of flavoured porridge are good too. I find all these things to be light and fit in the suitcase easily. Hope this helps.

When I travel to Spain though... I've brought back all kinds of meat and cheeses so I don't think you would have a problem ;)

    Good luck!

I find the food you can buy abroad to taste much better taste than the standard supermarket offerings over here. I can understand people taking stuff for the kids (better idea than a fortnight's whinge), but even then you should encourage them to try some "foreign muck" (lol).

I agree and alot of things you can just tell what they are by the package..pasta, ketchup, bread etc.... Always nice to have a dictionary handy too..just in case you're unsure of what something is :)

  • All Spanish supermarkets sell British foods now so assume that Portuguese ones do too. Can't see the point of dragging stuff over in your suitcase unless you have a specific health reason for avoiding certain types of food.

I have brought back cheese and chorizo's before now but very carefully wrapped and put in my main suitcase.

One of the joys of self catering abroad is trying the local produce and going to the markets to buy stuff. It is all part of the experience.
  • thankyou for all your responses. yeah I do want to try new foods abroad, however I suffer from an eating disorder so find it hard trying new foods, and will needs food that I can eat while I'm over their.
if it causes problems I may get a doctors note.
    thankyou for respnding.
