My equity challenge is still on track, in case anyone was wondering.

do you think that five or six years of 5% RPI/CPI inflation, coupled with five or six years of 1-2% wage inflation will sort things out nicely?0 -
Yes predicting inflation will average lower than 5.2% next year is madness.
VAT falling out etc what mad man can't see it rising further?
I have no idea what your gripe is Devon, but all I have done is said should a pensioners personal inflation be 5.2% after April across the whole of the year next year they should see no change in their standard of living.
You seem to have taken great offence to that, god knows why?
But I dare say it is something childish like I am a "bull" in your eyes.
But is your above scrawl not "can't see the base rate hitting 5% for years?" Just a thought as I can't say I remember forecasting inflation not to it 5% TBH?0 -

Does this help? But they may put it up a tiny bit if we do grow quickly, but inflation is not that high really.
Cant see it going any where near 5% for years TBH.0 -

What I can't understand is why he feels the need to jump on every post.
If I annoy him so much ignore me.
Every post is a troll fest with "you said this in 1742."
Why not just post our views and debate them? I am happy to do that.0 -

So a picture of an inflation graph, talk of the BOE being spot on in terms of inflation, and you suggesting inflation is not that high, directly followed by "can't see "it" going anywhere near 5%, is you talking about base rates.
Ha ha.
Nice try.0 -
I don't follow the whole of this 100% but I understand what you saying about pension rises being backward facing, and I guess it always will be unless they change the system completely. Pensioners do also get the winter payment allowance too, as someone said before, so this has quite rightly, been cushioning the rises. Not sure if the vast majority of pensioners live in smaller places though, I don't have numbers to hand, but just my personal experience, a lot of ones I know still live in family homes. They should be happy about today's figure though.0
