Boil a full kettle and then fill a flask, keeps warm for most of the day, save boiling a kettle several times0

An old trick is wearing silk blouses and shirts and cashmere jumpers. Honestly! The flats here are too cold in Winter and too hot in Summer so it definitely helped!! (Must revive)#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

Cashmere Jumpers from Tesco cheapest ideally I need to replace my Zara Silk and Cashmere 'Boyfriends' Sweater, and Silk Blouses and Shirts from Oxfam in case you were asking. Where I had a reputation for nabbing the Killer Bargains like 2x Burberry Coats (one tatty from use), Joseph Trousers (fab fit) and other wonders.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.

I've not had the central heating on since April.''apply within''0

Ripped out the whole house to insulate it properly.
£100,000 later, it's defintely warmer.
I'll probably save £300 a year, depending on fuel prices.0 -

Mrs P is moaning that it is cold and the heating should be on...can't be that cold as the thermostat hasn't started the heating says I
......must admit that I haven't replaced the batteries in the wireless thermostat since they died 3 months ago.....0 -
After bathing we leave the water in the bath until it's cold - well, we paid to heat the water in the first place so we're getting our money's worth from the heatI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0

I'm assuming the £100'000 wasn't just on insulation! Otherwise it will take you 333 years to get your money back.Mortgage: [STRIKE]Jan 11 - £91830 [/STRIKE][STRIKE] Jan 12 - £89'199[/STRIKE] May 14 - £69'999 Car Loan: [STRIKE]Jan 11 - £3658 [/STRIKE] July 12 - £0! I'm on the sofa, on top of an electric blanket, with some more blankets on top of me, toasty and warm on 30W of heating, while it's 10C in the lounge.
I've got one 11W lamp next to me, as a 'desk' lamp.
Using a laptop + external monitor and keyboard for the lower power usage.
Recently installed a solar water heater from ebay, for 400 quid or so all-in, which provides useful hot water on days with more than a couple of hours sun.
I'm ripping out the plasterboard, and sticking in actual proper insulation behind it in much of the house, but this is a slow process. To do it 'properly' - rather than half-assed as I am would cost perhaps 2K.0 -
Since I got a wood burner put in i don't use the heating in my flat anymore. It's amazing how much wood is just lying about in streets and in skips. Wooden pallets are everywhere once you start keeping an eye out for them. I find it quite therapeutic sawing and chopping up the wood but you do need a garden. Also I drive a van which helps with retrieving the stuff.
It cost a couple of grand to open up the fireplace and fit the burner but it's really nice in Winter, and free to run.0
