Criteria for DLA

Can anyone tell me about DLA i have tried reading up but i'm not too sure what it involves, I have been off work since May and my Sick pay is due to stop. I have had a stroke and am no where near fit and rady to go back to work. I do intend going back when i am well enough and have always worked and have never claimed any benefits before. can anyone advise me

If your sick pay is about to end and you are still unable to work you will be able to claim Employment Support Allowance. Your employer will give you an SSP1 form explaining that they are no longer paying you sick pay and you can use that to help you claim ESA.

Disability Living Allowance is paid when you have care and/or mobility requirements and can be claimed whether you are able to work or not.
The basic eligibility criteria is that you have care and/or mobility needs and there are different rates payable depending on the extent of those needs.
