Problems with cookies

Hi all

Bit of a conundrum, this one.
My OH's mother makes hand-made jewellery and is having problems with a certain site.
She can get into the site and make her selection, but can't get to checkout as it keeps saying cookies aren't enabled.
I've made sure 1st party cookies are on, 3rd party cookies are on a prompt and I've even classed it as a trusted site under the Tools/Option menu in IE.

The site is:-
http://www.beads.co.uk/

She's currently on XP SP3 and IE8. I haven't tried Firefox as yet but this is driving me mad and causing me lots of ear-ache!!!

Anyone any ideas?

    I will be doing later.
I'm just curious now as to why that particular site is throwing a wobbly.

I'm sure I've seen this before and the cause seemed to be corruption of IE's cookie store. Have you cleared all cookies and tried again?

It seems to work fine with Firefox, even with NoScript activated.

I haven't tried clearing cookies yet (OH's mother doesn't want to lose the stuff she's already logged into).
I'll be giving it a go later and I'll let you know how I get on.

    ::edit::

Do I need to clear all cookies or just the ones for that site?

May not be the site - may be it's the browser that has the problem.

I know it's the browser as that site works fine on both mine and OHs machines.
I didn't get chance yesterday to clear cookies and do a few other bits (including installing Firefox) so I'll be doing them tonight.

    Monring all

In the words of Sherlock Holmes "The plot thickens ....."

Cleared cookies in IE and reset it back to defaults ..... still no joy.
Installed Firefox ..... worked first time.

I'm more curious now than anything else, how can I sort this out for IE.

  • I have the same problem. Staff in a local care home cannot log into Facebook on the staff computer via IE running Windows 7 and they get the same message. I've done everything in the book but nothing works. After wasting a considerable amount of time, I downloaded Google Chrome and that solved the problem. However, it would be interesting if there were a fix for IE.
