I can see where this one is going....

Op won't post again on this thread and then a few months down the line will pop up again with a "Please help, our Cocker Spaniel puppy is really ill and he don't have insurance and the vet says it's going to cost £2,000.....etc etc etc"

I know where mine nearly went Welshwoofs. During my post above, he went AWOL from the garden. A post and rail fence secured with pig wire. How he gets out, no one knows.

A search through the village by torchlight, (no streetlights) without luck. Then a little tap on the front door and he walks in, like he owns the place.
One day he won't be so lucky as to reach home. I have no idea how he gets out.

I agree that there are lovely pups from family pets.
Please though, show an example of any breeder with 20-50 dogs, apart of course from a puppy farm. I challenge you to list them.

I wasn't going to post on this thread but the above is untrue as someone has said before. The breeder we get our pups from has over 20 dogs and here is why - they keep all their ex breeding b*****s, they have some at the right age for breeding, a couple of stud dogs (although these are not always used for their pups), some show dogs, a couple of pups who will have litters in the future AND last but not least they will take back any dog that they have ever sold for whatever reason, they have a few of these. So you can see it easily adds up to over 20 dogs. They are fed a top quality food and are well looked after, some are kept in the house, especially the older ones or if they can't cope with being in the kennels outside.

Not 100% sure but I think Padstow was meaning 20-50 dogs that are being bred from at the same time. I'm afraid if anyone has that many dogs being bred from then in all likely hood they are puppy farmers.

Nope. We decided to postpone the purchase until we move into a house which will happen somewhere around July-August 2012.

Good for you. The Extra 7-10 months will give you loads of time to find a good breeder and to get on their lists. A lot of good breeders dont usually have litters ready until Easter at the earliest, preferring their pups to be homed when the light nights are here so toilet training isnt so daunting for new owners :)
