What Meals Have You Frozen With Success?

This is a useful thread, never thought about freezing some things - like jacket spuds!
I usually freeze:
lasagne
chicken/mush pies or steak/mush pies
stews
soups
cottage pies
chilli/bolognaise
curry
sweet and sour chicken
tuna fishcakes
not main meals but homemade:
crumbles
scones
mince pies
biscuits
bread
yorkies
there are probably others but thats all I can think of at the moment!Do what you love :happyhear0 -
i freeze small portions of chicken chasseur, stew, pork casserole, bolognese, roast dinner etc for my 1 yr old and 4 yr old to eat at grandmas when she looks after them when i'm at work, i can just take out freezer in morning and it's pretty much defrosted by lunchtime0

I use Magic Bullet to make bread crumbs of bread crusts, and freeze them.
Even froze a drop of red wine in ice cube bags to use in cooking. Always make more yorkshires than I need and freeze them. My dil has just asked me to make her a load of gravy & yorkies for 18 month old twins, as they love to dip bits of yorkshire in gravy.0 -
Some good ideas there for me!
I agree with freezing roast meat with the gravy to stop it drying out. Would also suggest the you plan the freezing of the roast and get the largest you can afford. The shrink ratio seem to be bigger in smaller roasts.
There are now only 2 of us but I buy 8 or so chicken legs at a time and cook them at the same time. I tend to cook them in bottled sauce (Yes I know making my own would be cheaper ) This means I can use the large bottle and have enough sauce to freeze the extra 6 portions in meal size boxes.
A walk round M&S to see what their frozen meals consist of can give you ideaas.0 -

Did you get that off the shopping channel? I saw them advertised last week and was impressed, but didnt know anyone who had one. Are they worth it?

I allso freeze choc caremel shortcake.. as the ingredients make about 24 portions. It freezes well and like freezing the credit card saves me from myself. lolAnyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I batch cook brown basmatic in the steamer, then freeze in small boxes.
defrost in the fridge then heat in m-wave.
lentil curry freezes well too.0 -

One of the things I use it a lot for is making smoothies. You don't have a lot of washing up - use the rims supplied, and drink it straight from the cup!!!. I'm not keen on putting them in the microwave with the sauces in though - I found that the beakers were stained with the cheesy sauce.0 -

That's quite funny about the credit card, just before Christmas I could not find mine anywhere, (I knew it was a home somewhere) just got to the stage of thinking I'd have to order a replacement, when it suddenly dawned on me, I had bought my turkey, on leaving the shop had dropped it in the carrier bag - which is where it stayed, when I put the bird in the freezer. Gives a new meaning to the phrase 'frozen assets'.:o0
