Date for my DLA tribunal.

Just got this in the post today - it's only been around a month since the tribunal service were sent the info by the DWP, and today I got notice that my appeal was on the 25th of November.

At least a relatively speedy appeal.
I was pondering putting in another claim if it was ~5 months, as the average is.

good luck when the time comes.
Before you point fingers, make sure your hands are clean !;)
  • Your tribunal will be held locally, not at the regional office that you returned your form to, unless that just happens to be your home town. The average wait is determined by the manpower at your local trib, this explains the variation both locally and regionally throughout the country. Some are running at 13 / 26 / 50 weeks. You know your where & when roger but for others reading this you can phone or write to the Tribunals Service to find out where your hearing will be held, and what the current average wait period will be.

I hadn't thought of that, which is of course obvious in reterospect.

I've already used that case law summaries site in my submission to the DWP - and have been pondering going through the decisions not listed there as well.

Did you check whether it is 25/11 this year? Most appeals are taking a year to be heard.

According to the statistics - the national average wait for a tribunal is around 6 months from the time the tribunals service get the papers.
    And yes, it's this year.

The monthly update figure from the Welfris put it at 39 weeks @ of @ Sept this year, so August figures. The skewing effect of ESA on all tribs however has seen the curve accelerate twice as fast in only 13 weeks.

    No .. .. can't / won't link that M8 - sorry !

39 weeks and 5 months aren't inconsistent - if the 39 weeks includes delays at the DWP end.
The rate of tribunals seeing cases is going up, and the backlog is - slowly - going down.

At current rates, extrapolating the graph out - it hits pre-ESA levels just as the migration to universal credit hits.
Clearly after this happens, appeals will fall to nothing, as everyone will be satisfied with the outcome of the streamlined decision making process.
