    Hello all :hello:

I quite fancy having a go at making my own soap and wondered if anyone on here does it.

Is it easy enough to do?
    Do I need special equipment?
Is there a book/website that anyone can recommend?

    Many thanks

Soup is the easiest thing in the world to cook.

Do you have a slow cooker? If so roughly chop up any veg you fancy, my favourite is chicken and sweetcorn, I chop some onion, leek and carrot, throw in a generous portion of frozen sweetcorn, add some chicken stock, leftover chicken if you have any and let it simmer away for a while. If you wanted to you can blend it up if not leave it in chunks.

If you don't have a slow cooker throw it all in a pot and bring to the boil and then simmer for a bit.

Google soup recipes and there is a ton out there, I'm sure there are a couple of soup threads about but I'm useless at finding stuff on here.

You don't need any equipment at all to do it unless you like blended soup where a hand blender or a smoothie maker or food processor will do.

Any leftover soup can be portioned and thrown in the freezer, to defrost leave out overnight and reheat to boiling before serving :D

To complicate matters I was going to ask how to make liquid soap (not liquid soup!). Any thoughts please?

I made soap as christmas presents last year. I used the recipe from Kirsties homemade home it turned out really well. The honey and oat one was very popular.

Do not attempt to sell any home made soap products without getting certification from a chemist and labelling it correctly re ingredients, allergens etc. (EU regulations) Theoretically you shouldn't even give it away without it being certified as safe, either.

Liquid soap is harder to make (properly, rather than solid soap dissolved in water) than solid soap

Melinda Coss has written some good books - there is a new one due out later this year.

    Hi Scammo,

This thread may help: Homemade Soap

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the advice in one place.
