when the eldest is 10 she will qualify for 3 bedroom rate. I guess she will be sharing with the baby just now and maybe when they she thinks they should have their own rooms she can sleep in the living room. If she can find a 3 bedroom property for the 2 bedroom rate then that would fix her problem but it will likely be in a less desirable area and may in turn have a lower 2 bedroom rate than current0

I dont think she'll look for a house in another area because her little boy has just started school in the village school, she lives 10 miles away from the local town and walks her boy to school each day. Think she'll have to stay where she is and just make the 2 kids share a small room.0

Yes, it's not ideal but baby in with her and boy in his room, that's the way it goes. If it were me I would look for cheaper 3 bed accommodation.Blackpool_Saver is female, and does not live in Blackpool0

How come the LMA people dont feel that a family of 3 (lone parent and 2 kids) need a 3 bedroomed house!! My mate is a lone parent with a boy and girl and she's in a 2 bedroomed, small house and she wants to go into a 3 bedroomed house so they all have their own rooms and space but she wont get anymore help with her housing benefits. There's 3 people living there so why should they only be allowed a 2 bedroomed house? i know that the LHA think that the kids can share a room but the rooms are tiny and its so tight for them.
Your mate should have thought about that before having another kid--it isn't rocket science really. people who get up off their backsides and work who have a mortgage can only have the kind of house they can AFFORD, so if their kids have to share, they have to share.
Tell your mate to keep her legs crossed incase she gets pregnant again and expects people who work to pay for a 4 bed house for her!!Everyone knows their RIGHTS, few know their RESPONSIBILITIES.0 -
Bunk beds!!!
Or mummy on a sofa bed in the lounge
or get a job to pay the rent out of her own money, nice 3 bedroom place
or a bigger 2 bedroom house
Like others have said, she can get one when the kiddies are over 10. Unfortunate if someone has 2 boys but such is life!"If you don't feel the bumps in the road, you're not really going anywhere "

It's not unreasonable at all.0 -
Won't the newborn be in with her for a good length of time anyway?
Our little man is 2 and a half and is still in our room (good job our bedroom is huge!).
Eldest son has the box room and daughter has the middle room.
Come next year, we're getting a sofa bed for the lounge so the kids can have a room each. We're not bothered at all, as we only go into our room to sleep and dress.
We could put in for a 4bed exchange, but we like were we are and it won't be forever seeing as the eldest is coming upto 16.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Families in employment who have a mortgage can't expand their properties or salary when they have extra children.
Their employer will not give them extra money just because they've an extra mouth to feed and their bank will not give them a larger mortgage for a bigger place just because their family are bigger.
Nor can those who are working and pay the rent to their landlord if their disposable income won't stretch to a larger property.
If they can't afford a room per child on their earned income, then they make do.0 -
