My son left school at 16 and he is now nearly 19. I did everything by the book, ie phoned all the departments to say he was leaving school and then again when he left and then again to make sure they knew. I begged them to make sure they get this right and not be landed with a bill for over payments............and guess what?? I received a letter last week demanding £90 for an over payment.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Im not good at fighting my corner especially on the phone and at the moment I'm tempted to pay up just end the stress that this is causing.

Look up your old phone bills and get a CD sent to you of those telephone conversations, if you can prove you told them then they don't have a leg to stand on."If you don't feel the bumps in the road, you're not really going anywhere "

i'm in similar situation informed them sons had moved out, they insisted they could still pay me. when one left college, i rang them again, and they say i am not entitled to any since they left home, which i sid to them in the first place, now i have an overpayment of over two thousand pounds.
they have records of phone calls, and they admitted they had received the correct info from me, and that they had given me the wrong advice. so they sent me a form to fill in, when you think it is there fault that they have overpaid. hoping to hear from them soonloves to knit and crochet for others0 -

Can I ask which number did you ring them on. I did phone them about a week ago using the number on the letter and didnt get anywhere. Is there a specific number for "appeals"?0 -
