holiday cancellation

I have had to cancel my holiday due to a diagnosis of Cancer.
I visited my gp on 24th May 2 days before we took out the holiday insurance, although at this time cancer wasnt diagnosed it turned out to be the reason for the cancellation, the cancer was not diagnosed and confirmed untill 7 weeks after the first visit to my gp, the doctors said i would not of known what was wrong and would of been declared fit to fly right up untill 14th July and was advised to cancel my holiday.
I made a claim to the insurance company but they have refused to pay out due to seeking medical advice before the insurance was taken out.
do i have a case and should i pursue the claim?

Did you tell them about the 24/5 consultation when you took out the policy? If so you have a case.0

no i didnt as this was initially diagnosed as thrush and was told to go back if it didnt clear up which i did 2 weeks later it was then that the doctor referred me to an oral specialist.0

This may be the issue.
You normally do need to disclose all consultations within a certain timeframe of taking a policy (6/12 months - sometimes longer).
Did your insurer require this.0 -
no, it was taken out over the internet and no questions were asked about any consultations.0
