Flat Roof Nightmare - Help someone Please!

Hello everybody, I hope someone can give me some advice/guidance.
I have an extension at the back of my house with a flat roof. Recently, I noticed that water was seeping through one of the halogens in the bathroom, so I got a builder in that I know to have a look. He says the flat roof is knackered and needs re boarding and re felting. He said it could be patched but would only be a short term solution and the cost of replacing the boards, felt etc would be in the region of £600. Roof measures approx 2.8mx3.5m.
Is this a fair price d'yer reckon?

Are you sure a slate/roof tile has not damaged your flat roof in the gales we have had;)0

I have been reading this with interest. I have just accepted a quote to have my flat roof which is leaking 20ft x 20ft - reboarded, 6inch fibreglass added to insulate, packed to give me a fall so that the water drains away and refelted for 1700 pounds. is that expensive????????Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Builder never mentioned fibreglassing. I'm in total ignorance of flat roofs so am at the mercy of builders advice etc! Going by your price, it would possibly work out a lot cheaper that way.'The only thing that helps me keep my slender grip on reality is the friendship I have with my collection of singing potatoes'

I would reckon £600 would be a fair price for the job myself.
This would be for a board and felt job.
A fibreglass roof is a different thing ...its one piece job no felt etc. This tends to be quite a lot more expensive but I would say it would probably last longer.
FIBREGLASSING....this means that when they take the old felt and board off they will fill the void between the roof and ceiling with fibreglass insulation.
I think this guy is doing what you might call a 'proper job'.
Get the job done asap cos if more water leaaks in the ceiling might come down underneath and then that will cost even more.

The fibreglass is for the insulation, to reduce the heat loss through your cieling.
Off now to repair someone's roof (burrr)8 roof tiles and lead flashings, on a Sunday too.

Its got nothing to do with that
fibreglass roof isnt the pink stuff you use for insulation in this case
its a roof covering that is used instead of the old fashioned felt and hot pot
its is more economical and has a longer life span.If You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0 -
no - I am actually having a 6 inch fibre glass insulation to retain the heat and then re-board and re-felt.
this is the proper way to do it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I know what a fibreglass roof is, the poster was talking about insulation, which should be fitted under building regs.0
