You can't.
They have done nothing wrong. There is nothing wrong with the goods. It's your fault, not theirs. Sorry, next time check before purchasing.
If you buy something from a shop and change your mind you have no rights to return it. Many shops have an exchange/returns option but this is simply their company policy and not required by law.0 -
There is no way you can pursue it. You are not legally entitled to a refund unless the store policy is to have an xx-day refund window, which SS do not.0

Sports soccer and not soccer sport have done no wrong here, just read some of the other threads on here and you will see sport soccer were right. So you bought some clothing and tried them on at home yet you bought them for your daughter.0

OP, at the time of purchase did you ask the retailer if it was ok to return them if your daughter didn't like them?
That is the sort of question you need to ask to make sure of your entitlement.0 -
Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't sure if it was something I could pursue as I had never experienced this kind of returns policy before. From the replies it appears that this policy is normal practice in a number of retail outlets. At least I now know....0

I recently purchased a sweat shirt and pair of track suit bottoms for my daughter at Soccer Sport Direct at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton. When I tried them on my daughter at home she didn't like them and so I tried to return them the following day (with the receipt and with all tags still on).
I was told by the manageress that the company policy is not to refund even with a receipt. I asked where this was clearly indicated and she stated 'on the back of the receipt'. I challenged her, pointing out that in order to read the back of the receipt you must have already purchased the goods and by then it is too late.
She also told me that it is the customers responsibility to ask about the returns policy and not the companys to make it clear. There were no signs displaying the returns policy either at the till or behind the counter. The only small sign was about 10 foot off the ground and not visible at all when stood at the till. I was absolutely gobsmacked that this was meant to be clearly displayed - so much so that I actually took a photograph of its inappropriate position. I would like to take this issue further as I think that it is completely wrong of a company to tell you that the returns policy is on the back of the receipt and I do have photographic evidence to show the inappropriate signage. Any suggestions on how I can pursue this? Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't sure if it was something I could pursue as I had never experienced this kind of returns policy before. From the replies it appears that this policy is normal practice in a number of retail outlets. At least I now know....
Why delete the original post ?
Aside the fact it may help somebody else in a similar situation, posters who have spend their own time replying don't appreciate it.
I'm glad your problem has been resolved. Perhaps see if they can stretch to a credit note as a goodwill gesture...0
