^^^ you live almost in the phone exchange and you're going as fast as you an without moving up to an ADSL2+ service. If you did, you could expect around 18 Meg speeds :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

If you were on interleaved you would get higher speed. But that would then take away the advantages like fast ping that fastpath offers.

what a load of tosh !! Wouldn't alter the sync speed, and would slow actual download speed achieved due to the interleaving overheads on the data packets !!!!!

You are correct. I live < 1 mile from the exchange. My speeds have been as high as 6.5M but the reason I ask is that its more likley these days that my speeds are 1MB and even 400K, yes you read that right same upload & download speed (iPayer impossible).
    One day I tested (thinkbroadband speedchecker) every 15mins, I got: 700K, 1MB 3MB, 900K - go figure.

in that case, you may have an unstable IP profile, the exchange may be congested, or DLM is playing up. Contact PN and moan, be prepared to do several tests :)

  • Log in to the PN member centre then go to 'connection settings' > 'high speed broadband'. This will give you your current IP profile as set by PN.

Plusnet site tells me that my current line speed is 7.15MB.
Im doing all the due diligence stuff, such as doing speed tests at the master socket, (think broadband logs the test results to your profile) testing without phones/microfilters, testing at quiet times, using a different router etc. I need to present my case after doing this. The post was mainly about what my router stats tell me, so Im informed etc.
    Thanks everyone.
