Clue: This beach resort lies on the west side of a barrier island overlooking a famous gulf. With an average daytime temperature of about 21°C in January, rising to 33°C in July and August, the region in which the resort is located attracts sun-seekers all year round. This stretch of coast is also popular with dolphin-spotters, and they are likely to become even more numerous with the release of a Hollywood film about a remarkable bottlenose that is the star attraction at the local aquarium. The resort's other claim to fame is that the mainland city to which it is linked by a causeway is home to the 'spiritual headquarters' of a controversial organisation whose membership includes high-profile actors, musicians and other celebrities. 2. Each month's entry must arrive no later than the last day of the month on that issue's cover. Cond! Nast Traveller is not responsible for late, lost or damaged mail or e-mail. Illegible or mechanically reproduced entries are not eligible. Entries by text message are not eligible.
3. Only one correct answer will be registered per entrant per month. Each registered correct answer is eligible for the Grand Prize draw. The answer is Clearwater, Florida (where the Scientology HQ is, and the aquarium which houses the dolphin from the film A Dolphin's Tale.

But that is the name of the mainland city to the East, not the name of a beach resort.

I think it is Clearwater Beach, Florida (having been lucky enough to rent an apartment there on vacation)
