First Time Buyer - UK Average Consumption
Hi,
I am a first time buyer who would like a little advise on what to date he hasn't been able to find. I have just moved into a property and have tried phoning around a number of gas and electricity providers for quotes. Unfortunately they are all very similar because I don't have a 12 month history at the property and is therefore cost based on the UK average consumption for the property's location and size, which is considerably more than what I expected. Double the outgoings of what I previously paid at my rented property. I accept the property is bigger but I don't envisage using double the energy consumption, especially considering the property has a mixed fuel burner and rainwater harvesting.
Does anyone have any advice on how best approach this situation? Do I suck it and see during a 12 month period and hope I will be endorsed credits and see the bill rectified in due course? Or is there something more short term I can look into?
Any comments or feedback appreciated.
