I've read some horrific stories relating to this company on this forum and have personally experienced a nightmare claim against this company. We have setup an action group to bring this company to account and we are looking for anyone who has been let down to contact us.
We are in contact with various national publications but need more cases to highlight the way this company deals with claims. If you have a policy especially ADL or ADW ("work task" based policies) or own occupation please get in touch with us.
You can PM us as together our case will be far stronger.

You need board permission if you want to get people to PM like that. It's to prevent marketing attempts. i.e. for all we know, you could be an agent of a claims company trying to generate business.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

I did not think of that not that I am a claim handling company. I'm just one of many angry policyholders trying to get to the bottom of claim handling. I've had some national press coverage and we are just trying to raise awareness through the media.
By searching our user name on the internet you can find our campaign on various media outlets. We just want fairer insurance policies for all and as the ABI, FSA and IFA's are on record as they are not happy with these policies. 55 percent of these policies fail to pay out and in a recent survey of IFA's 80 percent said they should either be banned or investigated.
We are very shocked that the media has not investigated this especially sites like this. There is a lot of unhappy customers on this forum and many more on other forums
We welcome any help and advise to raise this issue.0 -

Are you saying Scot Prov only pay out 45% of policies?
Because according to Scot Prov they paid out 91% in the first 6 months of this year.

Dont get me wrong, i very VERY rarely use Scot Prov as im not a fan of them so im not against you, but i think if your making claims then it does need to b backed up otherwise it come back to bite you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The issue is with Total Permanent Disability cover, not with the critical illness element. The problem, as I see it, is there are too many potential opinions on what the "total" and the "permanent" actually mean.
It would make my life easier (and my suitability letters considerably shorter) if it was withdrawn and I didn't have to go into chapter and verse on why you should have own occupation, but why you have to have work tasks or activities of daily work definition.I am a mortgage broker. Ah, my mistake. I should have read it properly.
I suppose they have a point.
The new friends life are making it an optional extra, i think that may be the way forward. Atleast then it has to come up in discussions. Or to find out what people are making claims under TPD for and having them as individual conditions covered maybe, so long as we dont get to the Pru way of just listing anything and everything with partial payouts here there and everywhere.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Thank you for the replies and I would like to correct my last post in that Scot Prov does say 90 percent of claims are paid out but these are only for one section "own occupation" and don't take into account any of the other types of protection policies. After our article in The Times it was said to us that common figures of round 55 percent of ADL etc are refused even though the ABI, FSA and industry as a whole don't keep records on payouts. You have to ask why this is?
I drive for a living, running my own business and I was told I could not have own occupation as I'm high risk even though I was under 30 prior to taking out the policy. I spent 3 months in 3 hospitals critically ill and 6 months recovering after discharge. My policy won't pay out even though the evidence and FOS supports me. Why? Because I was not assessed or measured and therefore they won't take written confirmation as evidence. This is after they refused my claim on wrong evidence (long story but NHS messed up my care and claim forms asked for current conditions 6 months after leaving their care) without being assessed or measured.
Two year fight and I've seen every excuse and it frustrates me that they always move the goal posts to benefit themselves. Every medical expert said I could not do at least 4 out 6 work tasks with all 6 not being possible during certain times of the day due to my illness but still no payout.
