Disposable batteries are extremely bad for the environment, there is no safe way to dispose of them.

Recharging is even cheaper long term than buying the odd 25p battery;

25p x 1000 = £250

a battery recharger and a pack of rechargeable batteries will set you back around £20 and each battery lasts for a 1000 recharges!

I got 4 AA rechargeable batteries for £1 in Poundland last week...and 4 50watt halogen bulbs £1 too...

I got some Tesco Value AA batteries the other day... dirt cheap but they managed about 6 camera flashes and died. Not recommended.

All batteries are bad for the environment. They take about ten times the energy they produce to make them in the first place. Think about that. Better to use an adapter if possible.

I find that tesco value batt's not bad I also remember reading in a which mag some time ago that Superdrug own brand were very good, I have used both with no niggles but I buy rechargables from lidl's when they come round on the sales and they are unbeatable value!!

I have a cordless mouse and keyboard (because I have gone through so many corded ones that it's no longer funny!) and use rechargeables for them both! AA for the mouse AAA for the keyboard, both of them Energiser rechargables.

They were fairly pricey to buy at first, but they have more than made up the outlay as I use the AA in my digicam too.

Think I got them from Tesco!

Hearing aid batteries size 10, for the small in ear aid, costs £2.47 for 6. Off the internet from america they work out at approx 90p for 6 and that includes postage!!

When does the cost of cheap batteries get offset by the cost to the environment? Never.

I love this website, i have shaved loads of money off my outgoings and picked up a few bargains as well but I am increasingly seeing a guilt free approach to cheaper products that are worse for the environment than a more responsible more expensive option.

Where does moneysavingsexpert.com draw the line on being responsible whilst saving a few quid?
