Change of office location but no working internet connection

My father is just moving his office back home. He is using the same pc with the same belkin modem/router that worked together in the office but we have no internet connection now. I can get a connection on another modem with their home machine but he needs to join up 2 pcs and a printer which this working modem will not do. Windows says it has a connection but the browsers say no go. Do I need to reset the modem/router or is there anything else I should do?

Many thanks in advance.
I'm sure I went upstairs for some reason.

Your internal network between the computers works clearly so this is the internet side of the problem. I assume that when you say move back home that you are in altogether different buildings.
  • Yes, different buildings a couple of miles apart. It says I have a connections but I can't see anything on the web. I don't know whether I have to flush or reset anything. You could do with the internet connection to investigate when I'm there but ......

Well I would assume that you dont have the same ISP or same account, so you need to redo the settings according to which ISP you use on the router

Are you trying to connect two modems to the same phone line ? This won't work.

You will need to get one modem/router working first and then use the network capability to connect any other machines to that router by wire or wireless.

No, just one belkin modem/router. The home originally had a modem which works on 1 pc. The office pcs have been brought up with their original belkin modem/router. The plan is to use the office single modem/router with 2 pcs and the printer all connected by wire which is how they were in the office. Both computers are old with xp on them.

If the router has come from the office it will be configured to connect to the office ISP and have their log-on details. You will need to go into the admin settings of the router/modem and enter your own isp logon info.
  • Perfect. Thanks. I'll give it a go tonight.
