Microsoft Money Replacement

I want to replace MS Money 2004 - not interested in investmenst etc but would like to run a program that imported QIFs better than Money. By that I mean it assigns transactions to the appropriate categories better than MS Money or I can setup rules to do so easily. For example, a transaction at Tesco will be followed by a series of unique numbers which seems to confuse Money and I have to manually categorise all such items which is a right pain.

Any suggestions as to where to start?Tried Ace Money but very US orientated (did not even list Lloyds TSB as a bank). Will also try Moneydance.

tried that but didn't like the double entry approach. AceMoney is better (simpler?) but still would prefer something else. Anyone??

I highly recommend Gnucash, but that is also double-entry accounting.

Why don't you like the double-entry? Even MS Money is double-entry if you just consider the "categories" to be "accounts". It's just uses a different word for the same thing.

It's the best and simplest way of accounting, hence it being pretty much the standard for accounting packages.

It's a terrific program and all the while it runs on modern machines, I shall continue with it!
