Confused!

Right, my CC company have allocated a payment I made to the most recent transactions rather than the highest interest even though my statement says they will allocate payments to the highest interest first. I need to calm down before I call them, because I'm really annoyed as I ALWAYS pay the balance off in full, and I shouldn't be charged any interest at all. I just wanted to check that they aren't allowed to change the order of payments without telling me are they?

a bit confusing; if you always pay in full what exactly is the problem?

They have added interest charge of £15 to my account.

I don't pay by direct debit, so last month I paid £1000 to the account over a week before payment was due. The previous month final balance was £851, so they appear to have used the £1000 to pay off the most recent spending rather than paying it off the previous balance.

  • Did you pay before the statement was generated?

Sorry, I'm probably not being clear. Timeline:

13th September statement balance £851 with due date of 3rd September
    15 - 20th September spending approx £900
22nd September payment to CC of £1000

This £1000 appears to have been allocated to the 15 - 20th spending rather than the 13th statement balance, and interest charged on the £851.

  • Was there any cash spend in the £851 statement balance?

And I assume you mean the payment due date was 3 Oct, not 3 Sept?

Yeah, I meant 3rd Oct, and there was no cash spend, all transactions.
