edit: to explain, I'm not having a go at MSE here, but the politicians not having much more to say than the switch tariffs mantra

Just another point following on from post 182 I too am skeptical of Ogem's abilities to get the job done. Look at the pitiful effort they made over gas sculpting, Consumer Focus secured a much better outcome with no real clout... What's the good of giving Ofgem more powers if they are still hopeless? The only reason they are being retained is they are cheap...

Is all becoming clearer now? According to "Sun City" today Alastair Buchanan of Ofgem "stunned industry bosses by strolling out of the meeting led by the PM earlier this week" whilst "Ofgem insisted their Chief left shortly before the meeting was "scheduled to end""

The Source said the rest of them had carried on for another half hour whilst as for Cameron, apparently "The PM left shortly after the opening statements"

As Martin Lewis was there perhaps he could comment as to the truth or otherwise of these early departures?

Assuming that it's true is there any wonder someone of you were asking how the Government came to end up putting out the same line as the energy companies after this so called "summit". How can anyone be expected to take you seriously if you "call a summit" but then leave them to it, the clowns.

Margaret Thatcher they most certainly are not!
