what does Zone U1234*Londn mean?
Hi
I am trying to book a ticket from watford junction to gants hill (tube) on redspotted hanky but the result I am getting is from watford junction to Euston. In the order summay it does say watford junction to Zone U1234*Londn. does it mean i can take the london overground from watford junction to Euston, get out of the euston station and get a coffee
and then use the same tickets to get into the london underground system. regards :j

Yes you can. It means you can travel from Watford Junction to any station in zones 1-4.
Whether there's a time limit on the change I don't know but certainly getting a coffee will be fine.
There's no real point in buying in advance though - unless you are using a Tesco voucher or earning loyalty points I suppose0 -

Thank you. I am indeed using a tesco voucher to buy the ticket;)Yes you can. It means you can travel from Watford Junction to any station in zones 1-4.
I understand that its a single ticket. I am worried that getting out of euston station count as getting to a station in zones 1-4 and I won't be able to carry on my travel from euston to gants hill (zone 4)0 -
[STRIKE]Yes just don't put the ticket in the barrier, show it to the barrier attendant and tell them you are breaking your journey. You are allowed to do this on any non-advance ticket, I think (but am not 100% sure).
Are you getting a return ticket? If so I think you might want a travelcard instead? Then it's valid all day and you can leave and re-enter the transport system any time all day.[/STRIKE]
Ignore all that, Watford Junction is within the Oyster area, just use an Oyster card: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14869.aspx0 -

Thanks but its cheaper to book the ticket on redspottedhanky as I can exchange my tesco clubcard voucher to 3X the value. :j0 -

I don't think you can break your journey on a single ticket on the underground, but you are wanting to break your journey before you enter the underground, at Euston, so I think it should be allowed. They will probably be able to tell you at Watford Junction if it is allowed or not.0 -
AFAIK there is no direct link between Euston rail station platforms and the tube network. You have to leave the rail station and then go down the escalator (all under cover of course) to the tube level where there are more barriers to reach the tube platforms.0

Oh yes that's a point. So you'd in the bit where the shops are anyway, even if you go straight from the train to the tube.0

Does London overground use the rail station platforms? :eek:0 -

Aren't you getting London Midland though? From Watford Junction to London Euston?0
