paying cheques into co-op via post office help

Hi
I have some cheques to pay into my co-op account, via the post office in the special envelopes provided.
Do I need anything else, i.e paying slip. I have been requesting paying in slips for the last 3 weeks, none have arrived and the post office don't supply them!
Do I really need one? On the front of the envelope I put sort code and acc number, inside is the cheque with all details.
I am so short of cash I need to get the cheques paid in!! I cannot go to a branch as its too far away.
Thanks

With cheques I believe they have to post them to the appropriate bank, I'm not sure if they post them to your bank or the bank the cheque is written from, so I would include a paying in slip.
If you have a post office account, they post them to the Bank of Ireland, which then post them on, so I imagine similar for the co-op.
If you really need the cash, the quickest way may well be to deposit it directly into your bank yourself, otherwise expect another few days for clearance.0 -
Whenever I've requested a paying in book, it always arrives within a week. Do you have a cheque book on the account you are trying to pay in to? If so, you will find paying in slips in the back.
If not, you could use the postal address for cheques rather than the post office.

I've found cheques posted directly tend to be credited quicker than post office deposited cheques anyway.
Include a piece of paper, cheque-sized, clearly stating your sort code and account number, and be sure to write your sort code and account number on the back of EVERY cheque.
They prefer you to have a paying in slip, but this will work too. Do keep a record of all cheques you send.0 -
To pay in at the Post Office, you need to put the cheques and a completed paying in slip in the special envelope provided.
The envelopes go to a processing centre (somewhere near Leicester IIRC) where they are dealt with next day
Without a paying in slip the chances of something going wrong are high.0 -
Have you got a britannia branch nearby? If so use themHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

And if you do decide to risk it (and it is a big risk) and send them in without a credit slip, at the very least write down all the details from the cheques (sort code, account, the drawer etc. etc.) and write your account details on the back.
Good luck!

If you ring the 24 hour banking line, they will send you out the necessary envelopes and paying in slips straight away, you should get them the next day. The post office will not accept the cheques unless they are in these special envelopes.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg

From the Co-op website
For cheque deposits you will need to have a Co-operative Bank cheque deposit envelope for use at the Post Office. These can be ordered via our Internet Banking service or by calling our customer contact centre on 08457 212 212. Your Post Office may also have an emergency supply - please check with the cashier.
You must use a personalised Co-operative Bank credit slip from the back of your cheque book or paying in book. The credit slip should be placed in the envelope along with the cheque(s). The envelope should be handed to the Post Office cashier who will date stamp the envelope and provide a dated receipt of the number of envelopes deposited. The envelope will then be sent to us for subsequent processing, checking and validation. Please allow up to 3 working days for the credit to appear on your account. Once the credit appears the normal Cheque Clearance Cycle will apply.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg
