Digital Camera without AA batteries

Hi,

I need to buy a new camera. I am fed up with buying new AA batteries almost every week and need a good camera with the new rechargeable slim battery. Can anyone advise me what model and where from please?
Many thanks

Neighbour's just bought a Fuji F20 - fits your battery needs, & had v. good reviews.
  • Most people will look down their noses at this choice but I find it great for our needs (just family snaps and stuff for online etc).

    Vivitar Vivicam 5105s. (1.7"screen - 4xdigital zoom - 5.0 mega pixel)

It has the slimline battery, charges quickly and lasts well. Better still, it usually sells for around £50-60.

Like I said, not everyones choice but it really does depend on what you use it for.
  • You can buy high capacity rechargeable AA batteries...

Your mistake is not using rechargables from the outset!

A good charger and batteries can be found here.

  • I used to use rechargeables in my Kodak but they never used to last for more than a dozen pictures of so (sometimes even less). I wouldn't mind but I bought the special ones that were recommended :(

Having said that, it could be an issue with that particular camera because I'm sure my daughter is using them in her Olympus now without any problems.

Indeed, I would say that HAVING AA batteries is much better than any other option, you just need some Ni-MH high powered batteries, trust me on this one!!!

Having AA's always allows you to buy batteries immediately if your set run out.

  • I can highly recommend the 7dayshop 2600's and the fast travel charger. I have always sworn by Fuji digital cameras and the first I had came with a li-ion battery which is great and bought a new camera last summer which takes aa's. Bought the above batts and have honestly not looked back. Last time I was on 7day they did have 2700's but they were a lot more expensive. the number refers to the amount of charge they hold.. The rechargeables in pondland are only 900's so you can see the huge difference in the figures.

Invest in the 2600's and a charger. YOU WILL NOT LOOK BACK

I don't take enough photos for that to be an issue myself but very good point. It's a lot easier to get hold of a pack of AA than it is to find a powerpoint and put the camera on charge for an hour.

I bet you're one of those people who has loads of great photos :D whereas I usually miss the moment, forget my camera or am too drunk to aim straight by the time I remember to get it out lol :o

Don't think it matters much either way - I've had several cameras with lithium and several with AAs. Only really likely to have a problem if you're away from mains power for several days in which case carrying a few spare sets of AAs would work out a lot cheaper than spare Lithiums.
