Screen saver vanished

I use one of the standard Vista screen savers - and this has vanished after a recent Windows update, to be replaced by a wonderful new black screen one, intermittently punctuated by a 'Windows could not start this screen saver' line.

Anyone able to recommend a way of getting the old one back up, or am I doomed to seeing this particularly super piece of Microsoft stupidity for ever more?

It could be corrupted screensaver file.
Have you tried changing the screensaver via Desktop->Personalize ?
Or go to c:\windows\system32 and look for .SCR files - if double clicking on them does not start the screensaver, then its corrupted screensavers and you need to replace those SCR files (get them from another PC or a friend).
