I've had several attempts before now to do this and not been successful - as I've wondered whether I was going to inadvertently pick up some "bug" or its looked like an attempt to sign me up to a paying service or something.
Just tried again to do so - specifically "Children of Men" (as I missed the last showing of it on tv a few days back and they never seem to put films up on Iplayer) and got a website thats expecting me to install their "thing" as my default toolbar or summat.
Anyone got any recommendations as to sites where I can do this without putting my pc at risk or ending up inadvertently changing toolbar/search engine/etc I've set up.
I'm not very techno-literate - so hate if anything changes itself on my pc without my having been the one changing it iyswim.
A direct link to this particular movie would also be good:)

It's against the terms of the site to discuss unlawful file-sharing, but you may be able to watch the film here:
http://www.lovefilm.com/
I imagine that licensing restrictions prevent the films being streamed on iPlayer, etc.0 -
stagevu and blinkbox and course bbc iplayer good for watching films online but do not be tempted to follow links from stagevu to other sites to view as that may well cause issuesI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

They do show films on Iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b007c325/Six_Days_Seven_Nights/ but Children of men was on ITV0

1) Never install any 'thing' that one of these sites try to force on you
2) You cannot watch movies for free legally except on the BBC/4OD websites.0 -
Well - told you I know nowt about this sorta thing. I thought "filesharing" was teenagers sharing music illicitly rather than paying for it iyswim - not watching a film on a computer that has been up there on tv to watch for free anyway. To me - its for free one place or for free another place and whats the difference - but I guess if the legal position is that there IS a difference then I guess I have to go by that...
So - thats news to me that its deemed to be "filesharing" and illicit...
Hmm...well thanks guys..:T
Will have to just cross fingers when films I want to watch - but miss - come up on tv that they WILL be one of the ones they put up on the tv websites to play later....looks like I'll be continuing to miss a lot of them then...as I dont have a video recorder facility of any description.0 -
UPDATE: i've now checked out the Lovefilm website kindly linked to and find they've got a 14 day free trial and its possible to watch online and they have the particular film.:D
So - thats me sorted for viewing that one then anyways:T0 -
Not a problem. Will you continue with a subscription once the trial completes or do you intend to cancel?
.1 Cancellation by you
As noted above, you may cancel your subscription to LOVEFiLM's service at any time. To cancel, go to the "My account" section of the website and follow the instructions under the heading "Cancel My Account". We may require you to activate cancellation via telephone. Immediately upon requesting cancellation, no further discs will be dispatched to you, unless they were processed by our warehouse a few minutes prior to your cancellation request. We are unable to accept or guarantee cancellation requests via email or by letter (either posted, or included with returns).0 -

Radio stations play a lot of music, but that doesn't mean you can make unlawful copies of any music that's ever been broadcast...
Also, if the film was broadcast on ITV you would have some exposure to advertising (even if you fast-forward through it). By downloading the film without permission, you're likely to miss any advertising and statistically diminish the revenues generated from the broadcast.
Anyway, you can get the film on eBay for around £1.50 to £3.00 -ish, if that helps. You could even sell it once you've watched it!0 -
Or you could just set the [STRIKE]video recorder.[/STRIKE] alarm clock
It's on ITV4 12:15am Thu 20 Oct
Also in HD if you've got it.0 -
