New Laptop, Firefox Hangs

Hi hope someone can help as this has my generally fairly good with computers OH stumped.
Bought myself a new laptop this week and have installed ff on it as I loathe IE, but after a few minutes of use its hanging, whenever I try to navigate to a new page via search or clicking links within the original page it just gives me the little circle and 'connecting' but doesn't actually navigate to the new page.
Makes no difference if I have one or more tabs open.
It is a 'proper' download, checked that the first time it did it. Its the most up to date version 7.0.1 iirc. And there's no problem with the internet connection - I can still browse on IE and Chrome (which I've downloaded to use for the time being/possibly a perm switch if I can't solve the hanging issue).
Any ideas?
TIA

It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Some options here

You could also try Palemoon which runs most Firefox add ons, though run it with out any, then add one to see if you get to one which also causes Palemoon to hang

I've not got any of the ff add on's yet, just the browser itself, decided I'd too many on the old laptop that didn't get used so not added anything too it as yet. Will have a read of the link. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Had a read of the link, and let the OH adjust one of the settings as suggested. Fingers crossed it's looking good so far, no hangs for the last 45 mins I've been online. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
