yoga mat question

wasn't sure where to put this so apologies if its the wrong board!
I bought a budget yoga mat recently and when I used it for the first time yesterday, it was really slippy - so my question is:
Is my yoga mat slippy because its a cheap one, and I should just spend twenty pounds to get a decent one
Or, are all mats slippery until they are worn in, even the more expensive ones?
Don't want to buy a Nike one, just to find out its got the same problem as mine!
