Hi I have a wireless router which I use to connect to BT broadband and works fine. However my partner has moved in and can't connect his PC to the router - he has been using Tiscali Broadband up till now. How do we connect his PC to the BT Broadband connection?

Either plug it into the network card, or tell windows what your wireless encryption key is (which I hope you have setup?).
Then tell IE to never dial a connection.

Are you wanting to connect to your Router with a cable or with Wireless?
If cable, it could be the network card on his PC is set up with an IP address from his old net access. Right click on the network connection symbol in the taskbar, select Status, up at the top are two tabs, General and Support. Click on Support, does the address type say Assigned by DHCP. If not, go back to the General tab, click on Properties.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click Properties. Ensure that Obtain an IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS server address Automatically are both selected. Click on Ok and Close.
If he is wanting to use Wireless (firstly, does he have a wireless card in his PC??), you need to set up the connection to your home network by entering your Network Key (assuming you have the security switched on on it of course!)
Let us know how he connects.0 -
