If the fireworks are outdoor ones like rockets and roman candles you are supposed to have a license in Northern Ireland which costs £30.0

So if I want to have a wee bonfire and fireworks in the garden for the family I need to buy a license? And where do I get this licence from?0 -

Well thats put paid to that Idea. Was only looking to get a small box as its just for the GS really (5). Adding the cost of the licence kind of prices it out of my reach0 -
It wasn't that long ago that fireworks were totally illegal in NI apart from public displays. Since then they have become more widely available both legally, and illegally and think the licences are an attempt by govt to try to crack down on illegal vendors? Licence £30 and from google, apply to Stormont Estate by 21st Oct.

Actually, this prompts a question.
On the mainland, yobs with fireworks are now quite a serious problem. Years ago, it was impossible to buy fireworks until a week or so before bonfire night. The police also took a very dim view of them being let off on any other night.
So, given that the authorities now complain of this problem, who exactly legalised year-round firework sales?"Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0
