Heh heh, our company wanted to look as if we were cutting back on those sorts of things.

So the 3 big parties a year have now been re-named as "conferences". :)

Ours have been "conferences" for years.
There has been a remarkable shift in attitude from the staff to these events over the last 5 years. There is far less drunken debauchery and much more work. I'd say everyone knows we're under pressure and doesnt want to give anyone any excuse.... if you get my drift.

Hardly great for moral though. If the banks are ever to get out their financial mess and the taxpayer their money bank then we need the best bankers. And to get the best you have pay for it. Besides how much would a Christmas do and new mobiles all round really cost?

TBH the front office don't give a toss as they can pay for their own party (and will probably still have one on the quiet using the company Amexs). The back office will be all annoyed but there are hardly any back office jobs out there so they can't leave!

    Not at ours. :D

Although in a nod to the current times we have moved them to hotels in some fairly remote and godforsaken parts of the country for the last few years.

Sadly, "What happens in Llandudno stays in Llandudno" just doesn't have quite the same ring about it....:(
