But anything which makes investment bankers less productive is beyond counterproductive and into the realms of farcical.
I don't disagree to be fair. I was just having a bit of fun, as we're nearing fireworks day, lighting the blue touch paper and standing back.
Having said that, if I was to invest in Blackberries on a large scale for any company, I'd be seeking assurance that their recent problems aren't to be repeated. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

As a taxpayer, I'd prefer that the employees of RBS were working their backsides off 24/7 to recoup our investment, and technology such as blackberries are an essential part of that.
The way I read it is that they'll have to slum it with their old 9780s instead of getting upgraded to the swanky new touch-screen 9900.

What I found interesting was the revelation that most of the world's Blackberry traffic passes through a single data centre in Slough.
Must be where they plug Echelon in.0 -

All RBS is saying is that they won't get a new shiny one this year. They wil be able to do all you suggest with a year old one. Never fear!0 -

Ah, well that's a relief.:D“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Hardly great for moral though. If the banks are ever to get out their financial mess and the taxpayer their money bank then we need the best bankers. And to get the best you have pay for it. Besides how much would a Christmas do and new mobiles all round really cost?0

vita's headline is misleading. It is a general policy around the entire bank, not JUST the tiny proportion that could be termed investment bankers.
As a largely publicly owned entity, it's an entirely prudent course of action, and just follows what has been happening in the private sector for the last three years.
Move along . nothing to see here.0 -
Well you'll be glad to hear one fat cat is still getting his cream. We get 3 paid for dos a year, hot and cold running booze, good looking wait staff, piles of food/canapes.
I'm getting paid beggar all of course and the chances of a payrise/bonus are somewhere between slim and none and Slim just left town but at least I get to get poo-faced on the shareholders' dollar 3 times a year.
We normally have a little something for Melbourne Cup day too but that's a bit more subdued.0 -

.
Heh heh, our company wanted to look as if we were cutting back on those sorts of things.
So the 3 big parties a year have now been re-named as "conferences".

& there was me thinking that it is only the public sector that is wasteful.:cool:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
