New Heating System - Is this fair?

Hi everyone... I am new to moneysavingexpert.com and was wondering whether you could help me out.
I am a first time buyer of a house which needs remedial works (only chance of getting on the ladder!) and have been asked by mortgage company to provide reports/quotes for works needed. I instructed a well respected corgi supplier to access and if need be quote for works needed. Having recieved the quote of £6989.00 PLUS VAT:eek: I was left a little deflated to say the least. What I would like to find out is a reasonable cost for such works (spec for company detailed below). I must mention that the property is a good size 4 bed mid terrace which already has a part gas central heating and part storage heating system which has been advised to be non suitable to supply the whole property. The property is located in the north west area so its not as if I have to pay higher labour prices as in other areas (London).

38kw floor standing combi boiler - any ideas which one this may be? all I have found are wall hung and cant see why it has been spec'd as floor standing? To be reloacted in kitchen as apposed to back bedroom (good idea I think).

Can't make out from your comments whether you are in the North West of the country or north west London. Can you clear that up please?
Other than that, the CH quote sounds high, but then I don't do them and I don't know how big this house is. See next comment.
Service Water Plumbing is the hot and cold pipework and incoming mains which sounds like it is being replaced in full. "of all > 50mm waste" - WHAT SIZE IS THIS HOUSE? 50mm waste is the next size up from 40mm (the old 1 1/2" v 2"). You don't often see 50mm waste in domestic property unless they are large. > 50mm (if he really meant that) is very very big for a house. Was this place in bedsits or used as a residential home or something previously. And again, without knowing how big the place is, I can't say if it is OTT, which it might not be.
The third part is to replace all the outside drain pipes and repair a gully (ground level "grid" thing which probably rainwater drains into)A house isn't a home without a cat.
Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.

The property is a good size four bed mid terrace with two reception rooms and is based in north west of country... sorry for not making myself clear. The use of the property has always been residential and as far as I'm concerned will be for the foreseeable future.
And that you very mcuh for clearing up the meanings of other costs... much clearer now! One other thing... Is there any benefit from a floor standing combi bolier as apposed to a wall mounted one?0 -
Eight grand (inc vat) for a new central heating system is very expensive, just to put it into perspective a local plumber offers an combi boiler plus 7 rads for 2499 plus VAT, you have an option to upgrade to a different boiler and up to 5 extra rads for £3500 plus vat0

Good to know about the floor standing boiler as I think I may choose that now but not sure if its a necessity? Have seen a glowworm 38kw wall mounted for around £900 inc vat.
Looks like I should be paying around the £4000 mark then?? With regards to your cost for boiler and rads... does this include installation and pipework?0 -
All pipework is included, and it takes them between 1 to 2 days to complete.
